Amityville Dominican Sister Carol Radosti Helps to Grow a Blossoming Ministry at St. Rose in Massapequa!

In 60 containers at St. Rome of Lima Parish, Massapequa, NY, green plants are bursting forth such as bush beans and basil; peppers and parsley! The garden was started under the leadership of Amityville Dominican Sister Carol Radosti, who is the Co-Coordinator of the Parish Social Ministry.

The succulent staples of fresh food grown on parish grounds supplement the other supplies offered at the St. Rose of Lima Outreach Center.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (July 15, 2024) Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins humanitarian organizations and the international community in celebrating World Youth Skills Day, celebrated on July 15 each year since 2014. The United Nations designated the day as a way to bring greater awareness of the importance of technical and vocational education and training, as well as the development of other skills relevant to both local and global economies.

July 14, 2024, Adrian, Michigan – On behalf of the Adrian Dominican Sisters and Associates, the Congregation’s General Council issued the following statement in response to the attempted assassination of Former President Donald J. Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania July 13, 2024.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (July 10, 2024) Youth in Salesian programs in Timor-Leste have access to better nutrition through a new year-long project that has launched thanks to a partnership with the Don Bosco Foundation Timor-Leste; Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco; and Rise Against Hunger, an international humanitarian organization growing a global movement to end hunger.

Clinton, IA – Six Clinton Franciscan Sisters will celebrate their Jubilee, the anniversary of their entrance into religious life, this July. Sisters Ruth Cox, Teresa Kunkel, Joan Theiss, Mary Lou Carlson, Gael Gensler, and Jacqueline Herrmann have a combined 390 years of service to God’s people.

Jubilee Mass will be held Saturday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Clinton with Father Michael Schaab of the Diocese of Peoria presiding. The public is welcome to attend. A private luncheon will follow.

70 years

The Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart, Frankfort, Illinois, installed a new leadership team this June. The newly elected team is responsible for fulfilling the 2024-2029 Mandatum, which applies to both our Sisters in the United States and Brazil:

The Catholic Sisters Walking with Migrants program is now accepting applications for the September and October cohorts. This program is sponsored by Kino Border Initiative and funded through the Hilton foundation. 

Salesians also provide direct support of basic needs for refugees and internally displaced people.

The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration delight in the celebration of our 2024 jubilarians — vowed Franciscan women centered in Eucharist, committed to be loving presence through prayer, witness and service.

This year's celebrants — diamond jubilarians — include members of the Class of 1954, honored for 70 years as Catholic sisters: Sisters Malinda Gerke, Rachel Kiefer, Marie Kyle and Dolores Lilla.  Also celebrated are members of the Class of 1964, honored for 60 years as Catholic sisters: Sisters Mary Becker and Karen Flottmeier. 

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in the United States and United Kingdom are uniting in a special six-month prayer and reflection process for elections taking place in both their countries and across the globe.  The daily election prayer, weekly intention, and reflection resources are available for download on a special page on the Congregation’s website: https://www.csjp.org/electionprayer.  The sisters invite others to join them in this effort.

This weekend of prayer to Our Eucharistic Lord and friendship with the Little Sisters of the Poor and those whom they serve is offered to single Catholic young women who desire to continue to build on the graces of the Eucharistic Revival in their lives. This special time together will be held in Queen Village, New York. There is no registration fee, and the Little Sisters are happy to provide transportation from the airport or train station to the event location.

Join the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati for a prayer service for National Gun Violence Awareness Month on Thursday, June 20. There will be two opportunities to pray together: an in-person prayer service from 6-6:30 p.m. ET in our Motherhouse Chapel (5900 Delhi Road, Mt. St. Joseph, OH 45051) and a virtual prayer service on Zoom from 8-8:30 p.m. ET. The prayer service was created by the national group Nuns Against Gun Violence.

Children and youth receive food, education, counseling and more.

During the Chapter of 2024 in March, sisters gathered to confirm a vision and directions for the next four years. A new leadership team was also elected: Sisters Laura Bregar, President, and Councilors Maureen Doyle, Maureen Grady, Kathleen Flannery and Gretchen Rodenfels. They were installed on June 8, 2024 and will serve until June 2028. 

The Sisters of Saint Dominic of Caldwell, New Jersey, recently recognized Catherine Mulroe and Maryann Schaeffer with the congregation’s 2024 Peace Award for their outstanding ministry to migrants, refugees, and those seeking asylum in collaboration with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark. Catherine and Maryann emulate the gospel message of beatitude: I was homeless, and you gave me shelter; clothed me when I was naked; fed me when I was hungry; welcomed me when I was a stranger. Their lives and ministries reflect the challenge of St.

Camp Don Bosco now home to 21,000 internally displaced people.

-Launching Refugee Reporting Project: Amplifying Voices of Hope and Self-Reliance:

In commemoration of World Refugee Day June 20th, 2024. The Peace Journalism Foundation of Uganda (PJF) is launching a special refugee reporting initiative this Thursday to raise awareness about refugee issues. The project is a special Multimedia coverage of refugees through one of PJF Media platform, ‘The Voice for Peace and Development (VPD)’.

During Chapter (governing sessions), held April 14-20, a four-member Leadership Team was elected by the Chapter body. New Team members are S. Maureen Irvin, Congregational Minister; S. Robbie Pentecost, First Councilor; S. Susan Marie Pleiss, Councilor; and S. Margaret Rahe, Councilor. The new General Council will be installed at a Liturgy on June 30, 2024.  Their term of office will extend until June 30, 2029.

Sisters of Christian Charity Celebrate 175 Years of Making Visible the Love of Christ

Salesian programs help ensure children and youth are able to gain an education.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (June 12, 2024) Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins humanitarian organizations and the international community in honoring World Day Against Child Labor. The day has been celebrated on June 12 since 2002, and it brings attention to the global extent of child labor and the action and efforts needed to eliminate it.

Twenty five years ago, Sisters of the Earth Community was co-founded by Passionists Thomas Berry, Gail Worcelo and lay associate Bernadette Bostwick. This is the first community of Catholic sisters in the history of religious life founded specifically for Earth Healing and Protection within the Ecozoic Era.

Ecozoic is a phrase coined by Thomas Berry and means; House of Life. It is an era where humans and the natural world go into the future as a Single Sacred Community.
