"My fear of death is being challenged constantly as children, lovely young girls, old people, are being shot and some cut up with machetes . . . . A loving God must have a new life of unimaginable joy and peace prepared for these precious unknown, uncelebrated martyrs . . . . Even though I am somewhat fearful of the difficult days ahead for our people of El Salvador, I feel convinced, Lord, that you want me here, that you will give me the light and strength I need."
