Sisters of Social Service Celebrate Special Anniversaries on Pentecost

On May 19, 2024, with great joy in the Spirit, the Sisters of Social Service of Los Angeles celebrated Pentecost 2024 with one First Promises, seven Anniversaries and three Renewals inside a packed Holy Spirit Chapel at the Holy Spirit Retreat Center in Encino, California. Included in this year's celebration were five 50-Year Jubilarians: Sisters Anne Carrabino, Ellen Hunter, Eva Marie Lumas, Albertina Morales and Joeline Santiago (United States); two 25-Year Jubilarians: Sisters Lety Espinoza and Maria Elena Santos (Mexico); and one Sister celebrating First Promises: Betty Harbison (United States). This year's Renewals included Sisters Raquel Cruz, Lisa Lopez and Mary Grace Nichols (all United States). It was a joy-filled day, where emotional embraces and camaraderie filled the air, as hundreds of family members and friends descended upon the beautiful grounds in Encino to celebrate Mass and a delicious luncheon afterwards. Commemorating 98 years of advocating peace and justice for the common good, the Sisters of Social Service of Los Angeles continue to thrive in their ministries, seeking to care for and give service to the most needy of our neighbors living on the margins of our society. Come Holy Spirit!
