Imelda Suyai

Imelda Suyai, a Sister of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, grew up in Papua New Guinea, where her family did subsistence farming. After completing her education, she helped support her parents and family. She entered the Presentation Sisters in 1999 and took perpetual vows in 2010. She is a pastoral minister, works in the diocesan bookstore and serves on her congregation's leadership team.

Rural Papua New Guinea's isolation creates challenges, but limits COVID-19 spread

Living on a beautiful island like Papua New Guinea is a blessing. Although the isolation has its disadvantages — like bad (or no) roads and limited internet access — it also means few COVID-19 cases in rural communities.
