Teresa Anyabuike

Teresa Anyabuike is a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur living in Abuja, Nigeria. For a time, she was the coordinator of a Catholic community self-help association, a department of the Justice, Development and Peace Mission in the Ilorin Diocese. She also served as a website manager for her Congregation. Currently she is working as a social worker in advocacy against social injustice.

Learning to be in God's presence always

In everything I do, wherever I am, I can create a peaceful atmosphere. I try to be consciously aware of and dwell in God's presence in my daily encounters with myself, my sisters and brothers, and with all of creation.

How I challenge those around me to care for Earth, our common home

I have made it a point of urgency to speak to people about care for the Earth by engaging them in making concerted efforts to plant more trees, reduce water wastage, and keep the environment clean.

Warning girls about the tactics of human traffickers

We, the Africa Faith and Justice Network-Nigeria, went to a school to speak to about 200 girls from grades 7-12 on how to avoid being trafficked. I told them that anyone could be a victim, and that the keyword is vigilance.

In Edo State, advocates aim to engage the people in anti-trafficking fight

The Africa Faith and Justice Network-Nigeria successfully advocated for a state anti-trafficking law. Our next step is to put the law to work by involving Edo State residents in fighting against human trafficking.
